Colorants serve two amazing purposes in a water body. First, the addition of color enhances the mood and aesthetics of the lake or pond by turning it a deep hue of Caribbean blue-a sight to be beheld. Secondly, the colorant acts as a filter, like putting sunglasses on a lake or pond, shading out ultraviolet rays which are the primary contributors to algae and nuisance weed growth. It falsifies the depth of the body, making it more difficult for light to reach into the shallower depths, the ideal breeding ground for algae and vegetation. Since colorants help to alleviate some of this stress it also reduces costs by making the water body more manageable. Plus, the color of blue is truly breath taking and inspiring.
